Why would I need Luottoposti when encrypted emails can be sent from any email application?
It is true that an email can be sent in encrypted form from your device to your email server. However, beyond that point, there is no guarantee that the message will remain encrypted throughout its entire journey. Luottoposti encrypts your email end-to-end, from sending to final delivery.
I have received a Luottoposti message, but when I try to open it, I get an error message saying that the password is incorrect. How can I open the message?
Open a new browser session and then open the Luottoposti message from your email. You must not be logged in to Luottoposti in the same browser at the same time as you are opening a new Luottoposti message.
A Luottoposti message can only be opened using the unique information sent to the email address and the unique password sent to the mobile phone (or a permanent password).
Does the recipient of a Luottoposti message need to be registered as a Luottoposti user?
No. Luottoposti sends a password to the recipient via SMS. Using this password, the recipient can receive and open your Luottoposti message regardless of whether they are registered as a Luottoposti user or not.
What if I do not know the recipient’s mobile phone number? Can I send a Luottoposti message and enter a company phone number beginning with 010 or 020 as the recipient’s mobile number?
If the recipient does not have a mobile phone number, you can set a permanent password for the saved contact in the address book. Provide the password you have chosen to the recipient, for example by phone.
How many attachments can I send with Luottoposti?
The number of attachments in a single Luottoposti message is limited to three (3). However, you may send multiple Luottoposti messages to the same recipient if you have additional attachments to deliver.
How many recipients can a Luottoposti message have?
A Luottoposti message can be sent to multiple recipients at the same time.
I have purchased Luottoposti deliveries. Why am I still unable to send a Luottoposti message?
Please make sure that you are registered and logged in when making your purchase. After completing the payment, a page will appear prompting you to load the services you have purchased – click the load button. This will update the services on your account. If something went wrong during the payment process, this page will not be displayed. Also, check that you have received an automatic order confirmation by email. If you are still experiencing problems, please contact our customer service team.
I received an error message. What is wrong?
We kindly ask you to take a screenshot of the error message and send it to our customer service team. This will allow us to investigate the issue more effectively. Otherwise, we cannot determine whether the error message originates from your device, your internet service provider, or our system, nor can we see the exact contents of the message.
How much does it cost to send a Luottoposti message?
A pricing list is available on the Luottoposti website where you can view the prices of our services. In the online store, the price of each purchase is displayed before payment is completed. If you would like a billing agreement for your company, please contact our customer service team. As an invoiced customer, you will be billed monthly based on your actual usage of the service.
How much does it cost to register for Luottoposti?
Registration is free of charge. We do not charge a setup fee, and you are not required to commit to any recurring payments.
I am unable to register because I entered my phone number incorrectly. I can no longer register again using the same email address. Can you reset my registration?
Yes. The email address is defined in the system as a unique identifier, which means that the same email address cannot be registered more than once in Luottoposti. Please contact our customer service, and we will remove the incorrect registration.
I have purchased service packages from the Luottoposti online store. During activation, it states that the services must be loaded within 14 days of the payment transaction. How long will the activated services remain available for use?
The service packages you have activated remain available for use for years and do not expire.
The message cannot be sent, and I receive error code 403. What does this mean?
Error 403 is displayed if there is an error in the item you are attempting to send. In this case, the message has not been delivered to the recipient and no charge has been made. This error message is not caused by a system malfunction.
We have found that the most common causes of a 403 error are:
– the attachment is too large,
– the latest updates for the operating system (e.g. Windows, Android, or iOS) or antivirus software have not been installed.
Here are some suggestions:
– Test the attachment using the Test Delivery function and include only the attachment in the test. If you receive Error 403, the attachment cannot be sent. In that case, the attachment should be recreated as a PDF file or compressed to a smaller size before being sent.
– Log out of Luottoposti and make sure that Luottoposti is not open in another browser or browser tab.
– Update your computer's operating system and antivirus software.
– In some situations, the Chrome browser may add additional tracking data to the transmission, causing the delivery to fail. Try sending the message using another browser or use the browser's InPrivate or Private Window mode.
Luottoposti includes a Test Delivery function that allows you to check free of charge whether an attachment can be sent via Luottoposti. The function does not store or transmit any information or attachments that you enter.
If you encounter problems, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue on your device:
1. Shut down the device you are using and restart it. It is recommended that IT devices be powered off at least once every 24 hours.
2. Update the web browser you are using (e.g. Edge, Firefox, or Safari). The update function can usually be found in the browser's Settings or Help menu.
3. Update your device's operating system and antivirus software to the latest version.
4. Use a web browser other than Google Chrome.
5. Clear your browser's cookies and browsing history. Then verify in the browser settings that you are using the latest version. Close the browser and restart it.
6. Perform a full antivirus scan of your device.
If none of the above measures resolved the issue, have your device inspected by an authorized service provider.

Why should I choose Luottoposti encrypted email?
Luottoposti is a secure, reliable, and easy-to-use Finnish encrypted email service. With Luottoposti, you can send sensitive messages and documents securely. The service is particularly well suited for situations involving personal data, contracts, financial information, or other confidential documents.
How does Luottoposti differ from regular email?
Regular email is not automatically end-to-end encrypted, and its level of security is not sufficient for transmitting sensitive information.
Figuratively speaking, a regular email is like a postcard whose contents can be read by anyone who handles it during transit. Luottoposti's encrypted email is like a registered letter whose contents can only be read by the intended recipient.
With Luottoposti:
• messages are encrypted,
• recipients are securely authenticated,
• the content of the message cannot be read by unauthorized parties, and
• documents can be signed electronically.
In Luottoposti, encrypted emails are composed within the system, where the recipient can read them using instructions sent by email and a password delivered via SMS.
Messages are available for reading for 14 days from the time of sending, after which the message and its attachments are deleted.
How does Luottoposti work as an encrypted email service?
Luottoposti encrypted email is never sent unencrypted from one email address to another. Instead, the message is transmitted securely to a server, where the recipient retrieves it in encrypted form. The password required to read the message is sent to the recipient via SMS.
Are there any setup fees or registration fees for using Luottoposti?
There are no setup fees or registration fees for using Luottoposti. You only pay for your actual use of the service.
Do we have to purchase a large service package?
No, you do not. You can purchase as few as two deliveries at a time. However, a larger package offers a lower cost per delivery.
If I purchase a larger service package, do the purchased deliveries expire?
No, they do not expire. Luottoposti packages are not subject to any time limitations.
Can a Luottoposti message be replied to using encrypted email?
Yes, it is possible if the sender has enabled replies and agreed to pay the costs of the encrypted email reply.
Can Luottoposti invoice our company, or do we have to purchase a package from the online store?
Yes, companies and associations can enter into a billing agreement. Complete the invoiced customer application form or contact our customer service team at asiakaspalvelu@luottoposti.fi to apply for invoiced customer status for your organization.
If I purchase a Luottoposti service package from the online store, where can I see how many messages I have remaining?
When you log in to Luottoposti, you can view your remaining number of deliveries in your account information.
Do all users in our company need to register for the Luottoposti service?
Yes, they do, as each user must be authenticated for security reasons.
If we enter into a monthly billing agreement for Luottoposti, what commitments does it involve?
Luottoposti services are billed monthly based on actual usage. The billing fee is €5 + VAT.
Is Luottoposti easy to get started with?
Yes, it is. You register as a Luottoposti user, purchase the package of your choice from the online store, and can then start sending encrypted messages.
Can I send multiple attachments in an encrypted message using Luottoposti?
You can send up to three attachments in a Luottoposti message.
Is it possible to become a reseller of Luottoposti?

Is Luottoposti a Finnish service, and where are your servers located?
Luottoposti is a 100% Finnish service developed in Finland. Our server is also located in Finland.
Are the messages I send stored anywhere?
To ensure information security, your message and its attachments are deleted from the server after the agreed retention period has expired.
Can anyone else see the messages I send?
No. Only the recipient of your Luottoposti message can read your message using the password.
Do Luottoposti services comply with the GDPR and eIDAS regulations?
Luottoposti services are located in Finland and comply with the EU GDPR and eIDAS regulations as well as the NIS2 requirements.
Can I use Luottoposti from my own email account?
For security reasons, Luottoposti encrypted messages cannot be sent from a regular email service. A Luottoposti message is sent through a cloud-based service. The recipient receives an email containing instructions on how to access the message.
