Why do private individuals need encrypted email?
Standard email is not secure. It may pass through multiple servers in plain text, making it possible for unauthorized parties to access the contents of the message.
Encrypted email should be used whenever a message contains sensitive information, such as:

A message sent through Luottoposti can only be opened by the person whose contact details have been specified for the delivery.
How does encrypted email work?
1. Sign up
Click the “Register / Log In” button. Enter your personal details. Click the “Register” button, after which a permanent password will be sent to your mobile phone. Go to your email to complete the registration process and follow the instructions provided. Every new user receives two Luottoposti deliveries free of charge.
2. Send a message
Log in to Luottoposti using your credentials and click “Continue using Luottoposti”. Select “Send Luottoposti”. Enter the subject and write your message to the recipient. Add the recipient’s details. Attach the necessary files (maximum 3 attachments). Choose whether you want to allow the recipient to reply (tick the checkbox). Finally, click the “Send” button. A confirmation will be provided once the message has been successfully sent.
3. Receive the message
The recipient receives an email from Luottoposti containing instructions for opening the message, as well as a message-specific password sent via SMS. Using these two elements, the recipient can securely open the encrypted message, read its contents, and download the attached files to their own device. The message remains available for 14 days from the time it was sent. The same message can be opened multiple times.
4. Reply to the message
It is possible to reply to an encrypted Luottoposti message if the sender has enabled the reply option. The reply feature is displayed after the message text with the notice: “The sender has paid for a reply to this message.” Enter your response in the text field below and attach files if necessary. Finally, click the “Send” button. A confirmation message will be displayed on the screen once the reply has been successfully sent.
New message deliveries can be purchased from the online store. The contents of the message are not visible to email servers, unauthorized parties, or the service responsible for transmitting the message. Messages are retained for 14 days from the time they are sent,after which they are deleted. Attachments can be removed earlier, in which case they will also become unavailable to the recipient. You only pay for the messages you send – there are no setup fees or monthly charges.Â
